About Wiles/Walton Family
This is the website for the Wiles and Walton families. I first started researching the Wiles family many years ago (with some help from my Great Uncle Fred) in the days before the internet. It's now great that millions of records are online so I can do quite a lot from the comfort of my settee!
The Wiles family have turned out to be pretty much rooted in Yorkshire (mainly the East Riding) although some of the families they married into were from a little further afield. Some of our more intrepid ancestors emigrated to North America - both Canada and the USA - to make new lives for themselves, with varying amounts of success.
The Walton family, on the other hand, have their roots in County Durham and only moved to Hull in the late 19th Century. In fact, whisper it quietly, but my great-grandmother's Whitehead family were actually from Lancashire!
The tree and website are very much works in progress and the further back the dates, the more room there is for errors and discrepancies but where I'm not certain of the line or facts, I've made some educated guesses based on what I do know.
